An inspiring speaker with vision, passion and drive, Anand has been instrumental in achieving a major strategic shift at Brightside, growing its work by 60% since 2015 and introducing a new impact performance management system. Anand is interviewed regularly by the national media on social mobility, and speaks at national conferences on social mobility and widening participation. Before joining Brightside, Anand was Chief Executive of Family and Childcare Trust.
Anand is a non-executive director of the Social Investment Business, and an advisor to Independence ZA – a South African charity that provides financial support to cover higher education costs for poor students. He is also a school governor at his children’s primary school in South London.
He is part of the Speakers for Schools network, giving careers talks in secondary schools and colleges to students in Walsall where he grew up.
His leadership skills have been widely recognised. In 2012, he became a Clore Social Leadership Fellow. In 2016, Anand joined the Society of Leadership Fellows at St George’s House. In 2018, he was awarded a Social Enterprise Scholarship by the Harvard Business School Club of London.
