GET INVOLVED

Many young people worry that they won’t be able to afford higher education, but the detail of student finance can be daunting and budgeting can be boring. This doesn’t need to be the case with Brightside’s award-winning range of free online tools, games and resources for teachers and students, which make learning the facts about money management as easy and engaging as possible.

Student Calculator

The Student Calculator is an interactive budgeting tool to help you plan and manage your money at university. Enter your income and expenditure to see where your time and money goes at uni. It calculates how much student support you may get from the Government and is packed full of useful info, tips and student profiles.

Student Survivor

Adopt a virtual student and keep them alive until graduation! Student Survivor is an interactive game which challenges you to keep your student’s ‘MASH’ (Money, Academic, Social, Health) levels in balance.

Teaching Resources

Brightside’s teaching resources help teachers to deliver fun, interactive workshops around student finance and university life with years 9-13. These resources are designed to liven up classes, engage young people and help them prepare for the transition to higher education.

Activities

Developed in conjunction with expert education practitioners and designed to be used with the resources in Bright Knowledge, our mentoring activities help students to master study skills, careers, UCAS applications and much more.

The MASH Test

This unique, fun personality card game can be used with groups of Year 11-13 students or undergraduates. It helps them understand more about their personality type by asking questions such as ‘If you go out every night, what does that mean for your budget and your health?’ and ‘Are you a saver or a spender?’
